What Is Link Building?

Link Building is defined as a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technique used by webmasters to improve a website’s ranking in search results. It consists of creating or adding links to a site, increasing the site’s domain authority and its possibilities to rank higher.

Does Link Building Still Work?

Link Building was naturally used in the first place by content writers to reference or cite relevant information of other creators and articles. Search engines would take this as proof of high quality and would give the cited page more relevance. This is not so different from how link building works today. Search engines still give credit to backlinks, but now a web page can link build artificially by agreements between site owners, sponsorships, and even payment.

Why Is Link Building Important?

The main objective of link building is to Improve a page ranking in search results and is one of the most successful ways to do so; the more incoming links a website owns, the higher the domain authority and the higher the probabilities to be shown on the Search Results Page (SERPs).

A well-done link-building strategy will increase a web page's traffic and visibility through a “natural” approach.

This is because the search engines take high-quality links from high domain authority to prove the legitimacy of a website’s content. A high authority on a website will lead to building up a good reputation. Websites with good reputations tend to rank higher, meaning that more people will get and interact with it, improving the site’s traffic and conversion rate.
