Broken links and SEO.

A broken link is a failure in a website’s quality; it can affect how your website ranks in the search results. This is why it is so important to take care of these details; they can affect the site’s performance.

But even though broken links will affect the Google Search Results, they won’t directly impact the overall SEO. However, a website with too many broken links might be mistaken as an abandoned page and be classified as a low quality page.

The blogger should be aware not only about this, but also about the user experience and the bounce rate.

User experience: maybe the search engines allow for some broken links on a website, but the user may not be as forgiving and will try to avoid the website in the future.

Bounce rate has to do with the user experience. When a user visits the website they will decide if it’s useful for what they are looking for, and they will stay because the information fulfilled their expectations, otherwise they will move to another page; the user spends on the site is what is called bounce rate.
